UOM impacts the inventory management, and the following explains the same
Following Units of measurement can be maintained in material master.
Base Unit of measurement
Alternative Unit of measurement
Sales Unit of measurement
Ordering Unit of measurement
Issue Unit of measurement
For any entry of UOM other than base unit of measurement, a conversion factor with respect to the base UOM will have to be maintained. During the material transactions the appropriate conversion will be carried out. For e.g. base UOM is cartons however Issue UOM is KG & the Conversion rate is 1cartons=10KG then if 10 cartons of material is issued, the stock will be reduced by 100KG.The stock overview report can be seen in both UOM’s.
Batch management will play an important role in Al-Nukaly Context.
It has been decided that batch numbers would be allotted in co-relation to shipment arrival date for easy identification and facilitate FIFO (First in First out process) during removal from stock for sales dispatches. The materials in cold stores shall be batch managed.
However, due to Batch determination functionality being enabled in the background, the system would propose batch based on input characteristics (such as receiving or expiry dates as above, captured during GR) during delivery. This can be altered manually or at discretion depending on customer specified conditions e.g., with minimum 3 months expiry or quality (freshness).
Batch level is unique at material level therefore the same batch can be used again for different material and different plant
