MATERIAL GROUPS

Materials Groups are a set of homogenous materials grouped together under a single head. Material groups serve the important purpose of helping in analysis of inventory data.

Al-Nukaly has a requirement to classify materials in various levels; this would be addressed in the SAP system through Product Hierarchies. This would be done after sufficient deliberations and levels identification.

 The Material Master contains information on all the materials that a company procures or produces, stores, and sells. It is the company’s central source for retrieving material-specific data. This information is stored in individual material master records. Material can have multiple Units of measurements and the stock keeping report can be generated for each UOMS for example:

Base unit :PCS=1,OUTER=100,Cartoon=1000

The material master is used by all components in the SAP Logistics System. Different departments in a company work with the same material, so data in a material master record is subdivided in the form of user departments.

Material Master Views: For Al-Nukaly the following views will be applicable

     Basic data (description of material, unit of measure info., this is at the highest client level applicable to all Plants and all types)

• Purchasing data (for all procured materials)
• Accounting data (for all stock able, valuated materials)
• Costing data
• MRP views (for Material planning which shall be at Plant level)?
• Sales views (for all saleable materials)
• Forecasting

Material Type: Materials with the same basic attributes are grouped together and assigned to a material type. This allows you to manage different materials in a uniform manner in accordance with your company’s requirements. The following material types will be commonly used: Trading materials & Manufacturing.

•   Each material type will be identified with a different number range series.
•   Uniform material codification has to be maintained across all the plants of   Al-Nukaly.

•   One material can be identified under one material type only.
