A routing is an essential master data of the production process. It specifies the sequence of individual operations needed for the step-by-step production of a finished product from source materials. The routing contains information about the work centers where the individual work steps are carried out and information about tools and resources necessary for production (production resources/tools). The routing also contains the
planned times for carrying out the individual operations (standard values).
A routing will be maintained for each combination of a plant and material combination. Routings are used as a template for production orders as well as a basis for product costing.
